This week the green challenge is to go without getting any plastic bags from shops you visit.
I only just read this today – so I must admit I was unprepared for the challenge. I have, still, managed the whole week with only one carrier bag from the take away to keep my food warm.
I always take my own bags to the supermarket – if I need any extra I will buy one of the bags there which usually is raising money for charity anyway.
So, there is no excuse for anyone to get themselves plastic bags at the supermarket. The effect on the environment – from bags being thrown out and being left to litter the streets to huge landfill sites full of non-biodegradable waste is immense and needs to be stopped.
Go without your carrier bags people – for the good of the planet!!!
