Hey there lovelies and a very happy Tuesday to you, wherever in the world you may be. Today I wanted to share with you some Clever Ideas for Storing Your Acrylic Paints <3
I have been sprucing up my home lately, and the studio space has not been spared my critical eye either! I am always looking for ideas on how to be more organised and I found a great one recently when browsing Pinterest.
I saw that people had made little stands for paint out of picture frames with string and clips, but knew I didn’t have enough desk space for that. I did however have a lot of shelf space I could use. And thus, an idea was born!
Let me share a super simple DIY on how I got my paints organised so I could see them all with ease :)
Step one: gather your supplies! I used a set of hooks from my local DIY store (the really teeny rounded ones are the ones I used for the shelves), some string and some scissors. You will of course need to have your paint tubes to hand also!
Pro tip: I used a lager hook to start the holes off in the shelves, as I found the teeny ones difficult to get going into the wood itself. Just twist it round a few times to get the hole started, then switch over to the smaller hook you really want to use. Simple!
Here you can see the first little mini round hook on the shelf. Make sure it’s screwed in nice and tight so it doesn’t fall out. Once it was in place, I put the next hook where I wanted it to sit on the shelf. I didn’t want to do one long piece of string as it would get too heavy, so I added a few hooks along the shelf and split my lengths of string up smaller.
Cut up and tie on your lengths of string with double knots for strength. Make sure to cut away any excess string when they’re secure. Now for the pretty part – adding your multicolour paints! I simply turned over the ends of my paint tubes and hooked them over the string. So simple!
Some of my paints had softer tubes and wouldn’t fold over and stay so easily, so I used cute clips to hold them onto the string instead. However you want to do it, it will work. Small bulldog clips are also a great idea!
Now I can see all of my paints at a glance! No more rummaging through piles of little tubes looking for the right colours – they’re out where I can see them. I know I will be much more likely to use them all now rather than having them hidden away.
Plus it freed up some space on my desk tidy for more of my paints to sit out and for the other paints to have a bit more breathing space.
I’ve got ample space for my Golden paints, Crafter’s acrylics and my newer Pebeo metallic paints too! It’s a win- win!! Underneath the desk tidy (which is actually a tiered cake stand from The Range!) you can see my other acrylic paints poking out too! It’s so handy to have everything where you can see it.
I hope you enjoyed this super simple DIY sneak peek into my studio. Let me know if you’re going to try it with your art supplies!
Have a great day lovelies!
